Help available for women experiencing perinatal mental health problems

Manx Care highlights services on offer this Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week - a campaign dedicated to talking about problems women may be experiencing before, during and after pregnancy.

It's all about raising public and professional awareness of perinatal mental health and advocating for those women and families impacted.

The Island's perinatal service was launched back in 2018 after healthcare professionals spotted a gap in services for women.

Leslie Murphy is Manx Care's Lead Midwife for Enhanced Care and Safeguarding.

She says some women may just need a little extra help:

Manx Radio asked Leslie what women should do if they want to seek help:

If you or someone you know would like to find out more information about help available, Manx Care will also have a stall in the main foyer of Noble's Hospital on Wednesday (1 May).
