On this week’s programme, Roger will be taking a closer look at Manx National Heritage, the organisation’s contribution to the Manx economy and the future of its services.
At a presentation at the Manx Museum lecture theatre on Monday afternoon, officials outlined the findings of two studies.
The first was an independent review of the costs and benefits of MNH carried out by research company ECORYS, which concluded that MNH directly contributes £23m of the Island’s GDP.
The second explored a variety of aspects relating to the organisation’s profile, utilisation of the Island’s heritage sites, and branding. Amongst the recommendations were clarifying the name of Manx National Heritage at its sites, looking at the feasibility of a TT themed heritage attraction, and developing visitor accommodation.

To discuss some of the findings, and the reasons behind the commissioning of the research, Roger will be joined in the studio by Director of Manx National Heritage Edmund Southworth.
We’ll also hear from two of the consultants who presented the findings of the Audience Development Plan, Rosemary Allen and Chris Melia.
Sunday Opinion can be heard at manxradio.com and on the station's AM and FM services, just after the midday news. If you missed the programme, or want to hear any part of it again, it will be available in the Listen Again section of the website for the following 7 days.
