Tim Glover sits in for Roger Watterson on this week’s programme, and he’ll be hosting a discussion focussing on the possible changes to the Manx Grand Prix Festival.
Last week, the Department of Economic Development announced new proposals for a revised MGP race programme and festival, which could come into effect from 2013, with the aim of increasing interest in the event and its value to the Manx economy.
The changes include shortening the festival, and putting more emphasis on classic racing.
But the proposals have so far received a mixed response from those involved in motor sport in the Island.
To discuss the implications of the proposed changes and the future of the event, Tim will be joined in the studio by Minister for the Department of Economic Development, John Shimmin, chairman of the Manx Motor Cycle Club, Harvey Garton, chairman of the Riders’ Association, John McBride, and chairman of the Manx Hospitality Partnership, hotelier Theo Fleurbaay.
He’ll also be finding out the views of chairman of the Isle of Man TT Marshals’ Association Terry Holmes.
Sunday Opinion can be heard at manxradio.com and on the station's AM and FM services, just after the midday news. If you missed the programme, or want to hear any part of it again, it will be available in the Listen Again section of the website for the following 7 days.
