Extra safeguards to protect client data
Cyber security has been stepped up at Island accountancy firm Grant Thornton to further protect clients' personal data.
The company says it's conducted an extensive review of its existing measures, including hardware, software, accessibility and data storage.
Grant Thornton has also introduced new minimum standards for member firms in its global network - and provided extra staff training.
The move aims to tackle issues such as phishing, boost its encryption of data and virus protection, and improve e-mail security for staff in the Douglas office.
A recent report said the changing nature and sophistication of cyber attack threats cost UK businesses £34 billion last year.
Director Richard Ratcliffe said no business can stand still when it faces complex threats to its development - adding Grant Thornton is no exception.
