Steam Packet employees are to be updated today (Monday) on the threat posed to the company by a new daily freight service between the Isle of Man and Liverpool.
It's understood staff will be briefed on the situation, including the potential impact on jobs, at a meeting.
Packet chief executive Mark Woodward says the company must now consider how it can continue to provide current levels of fares and service, in the face of stiff competition for freight.
Rushen MHK Quintin Gill was among an audience briefed by Mezeron's owners Dohle last week, on the new container service.
