£15,000 handed down in fines for tax and NI offences

Six businesses penalised

Fines totalling almost £15,000 have been handed down to individuals and businesses for income tax and National Insurance offences.

The cases, involving eight individuals and six businesses, were heard at the Magistrates Court.

Four businesses were fined a total of £8,800 for failing to pay income tax instalments and or class 1 National Insurance contributions by the due date. 

One company failed to comply with a notice to submit income tax return forms and was fined £500. 

The same penalty was handed down to another business for failing to comply with a notice to submit accounts in support of a tax return. Three individuals were ordered to pay £250 for the same offence.

Finally, five people who failed to submit income tax return forms at the correct time were fined a total of £4,940.
