Breast Cancer Now to host launch event for upcoming fundraiser tonight

Hope that Peel Castle Sleepover will aid research into tricky-to-diagnose forms of disease

A launch event is to be held this evening ahead of a fundraiser with a difference that's set to take place in May.

Breast Cancer Now is hosting its annual sleepover - this time, in Peel Castle.

Sandy Denning from the charity told Manx Radio it's hoped the event will raise money for vital research into cancers like invasive lobular breast cancer, which is extremely difficult to detect.

The form is the second most common type of breast cancer, and accounts for 15 per cent of all breast cancers.

However, there is no specific treatment plan for it, so currently, early detection is key.

Andrea Lener has experienced the tricky-to-diagnose form first-hand, and says the hopes for future treatment will bolster her during the Peel Castle Sleepover:

Tonight's launch event for Breast Cancer Now's Peel Castle Sleepover is being held tonight at the offices of sponsors SIGCo and Thomas Miller in Samuel Harris House on St George's Street in Douglas between 6pm and 7:30pm.

Participants will be able to meet each other before the big day, and will get a safety briefing.

You can sign up for the sleepover HERE.
