Callister defends cycling organisers

It follows some criticism over road closures

Organisers of the British Cycling Championships gave the Manx public plenty of notice about road closures before the event got underway.

That's according to Onchan MHK Rob Callister.

He says consultation on the disruption took place months ago, and both the Department of Economic Development and Isle of Man Cycling had no control over scheduling of the competition.

The next road race begins on Sunday, starting at 9am for the ladies event, with the Men's underway at 1:45 - both take place along the TT course and parts of North Douglas.

Mr Callister there'll always be some who are unhappy about closures but most Islanders are supporting the championships:
