Cancer survivors lead Relay for Life

Sixth year of 24-hour event

Around 900 people are taking part in a major community event for charity at the NSC in Douglas this weekend.

Relay for Life is the culmination of a year's fundraising efforts across the Island by supporters of Cancer Research UK.

This will be the sixth year the relay - part of a global movement - has been held on the Island, and a record 58 teams are taking part.

Teams begin their 24-hour slog around the outdoor track at noon, after a lap of honour by cancer survivors. 

Island firm Celton Manx is sponsoring Relay for Life for the fifth time.

Organiser Nicola Walkingshaw says the charity's slogan 'Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back' is truly reflected in the relay:
