Capital spending on heritage railways could be cut further

Infrastructure minister discusses recommendations in review of the network

Government spending on the Isle of Man's heritage railways is unlikely to increase any time soon, and could be cut further.

That's according to the infrastructure minister, who's been discussing recommendations set out by transport consultants SYSTRA.

Capital spending fell from £5 million to half that figure last year, and the consultants believe the Department of Infrastructure should increase spending for a 'small number of years' to complete track renewals.
