Cavendish out of surgery following TdF crash

Scuppers hopes to take the record this year, but could he race next year?

Mark Cavendish has completed surgery on his collarbone after he crashed out in stage 8 of the Tour de France earlier this week.

The fracture is believed to have occurred in a place he already had pins from an injury that happened a decade ago.

The Manx Missile was denied the chance to make history by breaking the record for the most stage wins - but there are hopes he may postpone retirement as a result.

Speaking to fans on Instagram, he says it won't be a quick fix:
