City status could help 'revive' Douglas, says Council Leader

Island's capital one of eight new cities marking Platinum Jubilee

The leader of Douglas Council says the new city status could help 'rejuvenate' and 'revive' the Island's capital.

Douglas is one of eight new cities created to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

For the first time local authorities in crown dependencies and overseas territories, were invited to compete.

An application was also submitted for Peel.

Douglas Council Leader Clare Wells says it feels 'surreal' and she hopes it will help boost the local economy:
