Climbers warned to be aware of nesting birds at The Chasms

Activity is banned there for much of the summer

Climbers are being warned to be wary of nesting birds at The Chasms and Sugarloaf Rock.

That's the message from Manx National Heritage which has issued the reminder to users of the coastal area.

The Wildlife Act 1990 makes it an offence for any person to intentionally or recklessly disturb nests with a possible fine of up to £5,000.

The organisation has released a map showing the closed periods for climbers - you can see it below.

Yellow areas are shut for climbing or drones until 1 August, and red areas are shut until 1 September.
