Closure of Cummal Mooar residential home 'put on hold'

Agreement reached while funding conversations continue

The closure of Cummal Mooar residential home in Ramsey has been put on hold.

It follows discussions between Manx Care and the Department of Health and Social Care who say conversations continue with Treasury over funding for a replacement facility.

Last month residents, and their families, were told the site would be closed down in the next two years and before a replacement becomes available.

It sparked concerns over the residents' future care provision.

In a statement, the departments say meetings will be held with staff, residents, and their families, over the course of this week to explain the pause, and to provide further detail and give them the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.

More information has also been published for those who are unable to attend - you can find it HERE

The departments add: "At this point we do not know how long the pause will be, however we are committed to ensuring that everyone is kept up to date as discussions progress."

"We understand that this is an anxious time for residents, their families and the colleagues who work at Cummal Mooar and wish to express our sincere apologies for any upset that has been caused."
