Completion of sewage works by 2026 'assumes a smooth planning process'

Manx Utilities discusses delays to treatment plant plans for Peel and Garff

Manx Utilities admits its aims to have the sewage treatment works for Garff and Peel complete by the end of 2026 depend on a 'smooth planning process'.

The works, to put an end to the discharge of raw sewage into the bay, have already been delayed by up to a year from the original deadline due to issues getting equipment from the UK.

There have also been what it calls 'frustrating delays' with the land acquisition process, and the site sought for Garff, near Axnfell Plantation, is awaiting a planning application.
