'Jip' bit woman as she was walking past yard
A Crosby man has been ordered to keep his dog under control after it bit a woman who was out walking.
Joseph Ian Malcom Kelly, of Ballanicholas, was told by the deputy high bailiff this week that failure to do so would mean an offence has been committed.
The 64-year-old admitted being the keeper of a dog which caused injury, alarm or annoyance to the passer-by on 22 August.
His border collie ‘Jip’ ran out of a yard, where she’d been rounding up sheep in Santon, and into the road where she bit the woman on her inner thigh causing bruising and bleeding.
She had to have a tetanus jab and was prescribed antibiotics.
Mr Kelly told police it was ‘out-of-character’ and Jip had never shown signs of aggression before; his advocate told the court: “Mr Kelly can’t really offer any explanation for Jip’s actions that evening.”
Instructing him to pay costs of £50 Rachael Braidwood told him: “I’m ordering you to keep Jip under control.”
