CWU moved goal posts says PO chair

Still an appetite to resolve dispute

The Chair of the Post Office says the board remains open to negotiations - and still has an appetite to get the current dispute resolved.

Julied Edge MHK was speaking on Mandate this morning (14 Feb) as a three-day walkout by CWU workers got underway - the second such round of industrial action in as many months.

The long-running dispute centres around proposed changes to pay and pension arrangements.

Ms Edge says the Post Office board had moved on some of the suggested proposals from the CWU in recent negotiations - but claims the goal posts were moved again yesterday (13 Feb).

She suggests whilst the claimed £35 a week loss for workers highlighted by the CWU's Terry Pullinger is correct - it should be qualified.

Mr Pullinger left the Island last night but Ms Edge says a second CWU negotiator remains on the Island and is meeting with PO CEO Simon Kneen this morning.
