Damage caused at two Island campsites

Police say matters are unrelated but urge people to act responsibly

Police investigating damage caused at two campsites on the Island are urging people to act more responsibly.

Someone started a fire at Crossag’s Farm Campsite in Ramsey between 5pm on 18 March and 10.52pm on 20 March.

Over the same weekend someone deliberately used a disposal barbeque on a wooden picnic table, damaging it, at Glen Wyllin Campsite in Kirk Michael.

Officers say this constitutes arson.

The matters are believed to be unrelated – anyone who can help is asked to contact Ramsey Police Station or Peel Police Station respectively.

Sergeant Steve Gadman of the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team told Manx Radio: “With the warm weather fast approaching this is a timely reminder for those choosing to use disposable barbeques to do so responsibly and to ensure the barbeque are placed on a suitable surface both during and after use.”
