DHSC 'must become sustainable'

Review of upper management taking place

Health Minister Kate Beecroft insists cutbacks in her department must come from somewhere.

Questions were raised in the House of Keys yesterday, prompted by a series of controversial cost-saving announcements over recent weeks and months.

Prescription charges, funding for Meals on Wheels services and a freeze on 'non-essential' roles within the DHSC have all been touted.

Mrs Beecroft also told colleagues a review of upper management in the healthcare system was being carried out, in order to make operations 'more efficient and smaller':
