'DHSC needs stability and funding, not another review'

Moffat issues warning against political interference

A review of the Island's health department should not form the pretext for privatisation of what is an 'under-funded' service.

That's according to the Celtic League's press officer Bernard Moffat, who says the Department of Health and Social Care has become a 'political football', plagued by continual interference and lack of financial support.

He's also raised concerns there's an agenda driven by members of the private sector to 'hive off areas' of the health service.

It was announced last week there's to be a year-long independent review of the DHSC, whilst Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan refused to rule out privatisation of some services in future.
