Armed officers called to Quine's Corner as a result
A Douglas man has admitted making threatening phone calls that resulted in armed police being called out in the Island's capital.
Sean Peter Ross Maunders entered two guilty pleas in relation to the incident at Quine's Corner earlier this month.
At around 4.30pm on 16 August, Maunders told the call handler at Police Headquarters that he had a shotgun and there would be a body in the morning if police attended his home.
Armed police were sent to his address at Quine's Corner, resulting in the area being cordoned off.
When he was arrested, the 30-year-old attempted to kick out at officers, and had to be placed in leg restraints.
Appearing at Douglas Courthouse this week, he pleaded guilty to sending offensive, indecent or menacing messages, as well as resisting officers in the execution of duty.
Maunders' defence advocate told the court he struggles with his mental health, and asked for a full social enquiry report ahead of sentencing.
Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood adjourned the case to allow probation to compile the report.
Maunders will remain on bail until his next court appearance on 10 October.
