Dual school role for Peel Clothworkers' head

Anna Jackson becomes the latest to take over multiple schools

The headteacher of Peel Clothworkers’ Primary School will have an additional school to lead from February.

Anna Jackson will become the latest head to take over the running of multiple schools when she takes over Marown Primary School.

Current post-holder Ian Longshaw is retiring after 15 years in charge.

In a letter to parents and guardians Mrs Jackson says the leadership structures, policies, traditions and distinct ethos of both schools will continue and pupils should experience little difference.

She says she's delighted to accept the new post and has given an assurance that she will remain fully committed to Peel Clothworkers.

“Working in schools that play a genuine part in the life of a community is a real pleasure and I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead a team of like-minded professionals, and build upon their successes.” – Anna Jackson

It's not the first time a single head teacher has assumed control of more than one school.

The precedent was set last year when Max Kelly was appointed as executive head of three primary schools at Laxey, Dhoon and Willaston.

Around the same time Adrian Shorthouse, headteacher at Kewaigue, added the role at Scoill yn Jubilee to his job description.

Marown currently has 165 pupils with 422 attending the Peel Clothworkers’ school.
