Former chief constable criticises 'poor decision' by Douglas Council

Paid parking introduced at car park near Police Headquarters

The Island's former chief constable has criticised a move by Douglas Council to introduce paid parking to an overflow car park by police headquarters.

It will cost on-duty officers a pound-a-day to park in the site at Noble's Park.

The move was described as a 'kick in the teeth' by the Isle of Man Police Federation, while Douglas Council said it had offered the constabulary the chance to purchase permits for officers.

Gary Roberts says 'the whole thing is really sad' and the council's decision is a 'poor one'.
