Ministers say 'shop local' message needs more visibility
Government says it wants to help ensure small businesses in the food and drink sector on the Isle of Man can effectively market their products.
The Department for Environment, Food and Agriculture says the ‘shop local’ message is more likely to succeed if people know where to go to get their Manx produce.
This week, products from a company providing tea and coffee with a Manx twist were rejected by Tesco which said, despite them being sold in Shoprite, the ‘customer opportunity was too small’.
Minister Clare Barber says there will be help available to those who are having to change tactics - particularly in terms of advertising support.
