Gov't 'absolutely committed' to increasing minimum wage

Work underway to assess impact of raising rate

The treasury minister insists he's 'absolutely committed' to increasing the minimum wage on the Isle of Man, despite the panel that calculates the rate having not yet made a recommendation.

Alex Allinson has confirmed a contractor has been appointed this week to carry out an impact assessment, with the work due to be completed within six weeks.

The Minimum Wage Committee previously said it wasn't able to make a recommendation without work to consider how raising the wage will affect businesses.
