Individuals not to blame, says Manx Care
There's a term which healthcare providers on the Isle of Man are keen to eliminate from the vocabulary, and that's "bed blockers."
It refers to people who are well enough to leave hospital but have nowhere to go, so they remain in the facility until they can be discharged somewhere safely.
Speaking in a Manx Radio Podcast, Manx Care CEO Teresa Cope, Head of the Ambulance Service Will Bellamy and first Dr Ishaku Pam explain why it's a phrase which needs to go:
