IM1 nominated for award at Radio Academy ARIAS

Manx Radio comedy up against BBC, Absolute Radio and Sony Music

Manx Radio has been nominated for an award at The Radio Academy ARIAS 2024.

The annual Audio and Radio Industry Awards celebrate ‘outstanding shows and the creative teams behind them’.

IM1: A NEW HOPE – LIVE! will go up against eight other programmes – made by BBC Studios, Absolute Radio, BBC Radio 4 and Sony Music - in The Comedy Award category.

The satirical comedy produced by Howard Caine looks behind the scenes of Manx Radio and was performed to a live audience at the Peel Centenary Centre last year.

Aradhna Tayal Leach, Managing Director of The Radio Academy, said: "The Radio Academy ARIAS are a highlight of our year, a vibrant showcase and celebration of the profound impact that audio and radio has in our society.

“As the first awards of my tenure as Managing Director, I am truly honoured to announce the 2024 ARIAS nominees, and shine a spotlight on these incredible stories and creative teams.

“We are proud in the UK to be global leaders in audio and radio talent and storytelling.

“Every day we pour energy, creativity and heart into creating the best audio experiences for our listeners.

“The Radio Academy ARIAS mark a special moment to pause, reflect and celebrate our impact and achievements.”

The Radio Academy ARIAS will take place on 7 May at Theatre Royal on Drury Lane in London and will be hosted by Alice Levine and Romesh Ranganathan.
