Income tax 'very important' part of Island's ability to pay for public services

"If we're not filling these vacancies, how do we pay for them?"

One of the 'principles' of trying to grow the Isle of Man's working population is to ensure there's enough financial injections into government to pay for public services.

That's according to the enterprise minister ahead of a debate which will see his department request permission to temporarily switch off the work permit system for two years.

Mr Johnston maintains the move would address 'critical' labour shortages and attract skilled workers here.
