Independent assessment announced by chief minister 'very vague'

MHK wants more details to know if the proposal goes far enough

A Douglas South MHK is continuing to criticise an 'independent assessment' announced by the chief minister in response to the compensation figure due to be given to Dr Rosalind Ranson.

Nearly £3.2million has been awarded to the Island's former medical director after she was unfairly dismissed from the Department of Health and Social Care for whistleblowing.

It comes days before May's sitting of Tynwald is due to get underway which has seen Claire Christian table an urgent motion calling for a Select Committee to be established to review government's handling of the litigation.

Ms Christian believes Tynwald members must be careful they're not being 'side-lined' with a 'pseudo-independent' investigation.

She told Manx Radio there's no clear indication of what the assessment would actually entail:
