IoM Meats recalls some beef products after packaging machine breakdown

Delays in production led to items falling outside standards, says company

Isle of Man Meats is recalling some products after a machine breakdown led to delays in production.

The company says the problem occurred with a packaging machine between Christmas and early January, and there was disruption whilst waiting specialist engineers to arrive on Island to repair the equipment.

As a result, it says, it's decided to dispose of some beef from stock and recall from customers a small amount of beef product.

Isle of Man Meats stresses it is a 'precautionary measure', saying it feels the items 'fall outside our high quality and food hygiene standards'.

"Whilst the risk is extremely minimal when cooked and handled correctly, we prioritise the quality of our product and the needs of our consumers", it adds.

Customers are asked to check their labels and return any product with batch number 19590 from where they bought it for a full refund.
