Inquest opens into death of Irish TT rider

Tragic loss of popular racer Alan Bonner

An inquest has heard that a popular TT rider who crashed during practice this year died from head and chest injuries.

Alan Bonner came off his machine close to the 33rd milestone during a practice session on the afternoon of Wednesday 7th June.

The 33 year old plasterer from County Meath in Ireland was the fastest ever Irish TT rider around the Mountain course, with a top lap speed of 127.090 miles per hour in 2015.

A medical report noted that following the accident Mr Bonner had no pulse and his breathing had stopped.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham released the body for funeral arrangements to be made and passed on his condolences to Mr Bonner's family and friends, two of whom were in court.

The inquest has been adjourned to a date to be fixed.
