Debate on document underway in extraordinary sitting
The chief minister has delivered a speech this morning outlining the targets of the new administration for the next five years.
After being dismissed in January members approved a debate on 'Our Island Plan' at an extraordinary sitting of Tynwald.
The document was previously criticised for a lack of 'clear targets' and 'deliverables'.
In his opening speech Alfred Cannan outlined the 'commitments' of his cabinet:
The first MHK to take to the floor, following Mr Cannan, was Tim Glover who criticised the timing and quality of the plan as well as a lack of inclusion from other members outside of the Council of Ministers.
The Arbory, Castletown and Malew representative asked ”why the headlong rush?” And said the document had been described to him as a 'glossy document full of government speak':
