Island set to mark Armed Forces Day

Event seen as celebratory rather than remembrance

This coming Saturday will see the Isle of Man mark Armed Forces Day.

A parade celebrating the work the men and women who've served and are continuing to serve gets underway on Douglas Promenade from 1pm.

The day hopes to be a display of support to the Armed Forces community and provides a boost to morale for the troops and their families.

Retired RAF Squadron Leader Colin Kelsey says it's important to differentiate between Remembrance Sunday and Armed Forces Day:

A Lancaster Bomber will be making a fly by and is estimated to pass over Douglas Head from the South East.

Manx Radio understands the aircraft will make three passes before leaving to the West.
