Expo showcases Island opportunities

Investors and enterprise melting pot

The second day of the ISLEXPO 2017 business conference is in full swing at the Villa Marina (25 May).

Attendance by off-Island delegates for the event's main day may be down, after last night's flight from Gatwick was turned back, and two from Liverpool and Manchester were cancelled today, due to fog.

However, a full programme of talks, keynote speakers, panels and 'meet the expert' workshops are going ahead.

Investment firm Spark Impact, overseeing the government's £50 million Enterprise Development Scheme (EDS) are meeting businesses seeking loans and funding packages.

More than £1.2 million has so far been committed from the fund, with the latest support package unveiled on ISLEXPO's opening day.

Equity investment has helped technology firm Nimbus Medical Holdings Ltd to expand and relocate to the Isle of Man, creating three new jobs.

A software platform developed by Numbus allows the elderly and chronically ill to live at home, rather than in hospital or a care setting, with key health parameters such as blood pressure and temperature remotely monitored.

Investment director Mark Borzomato is confident the expo will create more tangible results:
