End Cafe site remains cordoned off
An assessment of the Laxey landslide site carried out by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has concluded there are currently no public safety concerns and the issue is now between the landowners to resolve.
Tons of earth and stone came down close to the former End Cafe site at the southern end of Laxey promenade in early March, leading to the evacuation of two properties on Old Laxey Hill.
After the initial landslide, debris and earth continued to fall onto the former End Cafe site for several days.
Two properties were evacuated after an assessment by government experts.
At the time, Garff Commissioners called for urgent action to stabilise the cliffs due to the ongoing threat to houses on Old Laxey Hill.
Now, some three months after the landslide, the End Cafe site remains cordoned off.
Businesses on the promenade have been unaffected and continue to trade normally.
