24-year-old will be sentenced at Court of General Gaol Delivery
A Douglas man who fractured a member of the public’s jaw at a taxi rank will be sentenced next month.
Ryan Lee Daly, of Cronkbourne Village, assaulted the man just before 12.30am - on Victoria Street in Douglas - on 12 February.
The 24-year-old punched the victim and as he was lying on the floor proceeded to kick him in the head – a witness described his actions as like ‘kicking a rugby ball full blown’.
Daly admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse – the court heard he’d been ‘intoxicated’ at the time.
The man he'd assaulted suffered three fractures to his jaw and had to have surgery to have it wired together with screws.
A social enquiry report has been requested before Daly is sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery – bail was granted until his next appearance before that court on 5 May.
