Manx Care: 'We want equal focus on mental and physical wellbeing'

1 in 4 expected to suffer from periods of mental ill health

Manx Care says it's aiming to ensure there is ‘equal focus’ on mental and physical wellbeing on the Isle of Man.

Pressure on mental health services across the festive period is expected to rise – with people urged not to feel they have to have a ‘perfect’ Christmas.

Statistics show 1 in 4 people will experience some period of mental ill health during their lifetime.

The health body admits there is ‘very high demand’ for support currently - due to the number of referrals and lengthy waiting times.

Chief executive Teresa Cope, and general manager of Integrated Mental Health Services Ross Bailey, say there are other ways of getting support:
