ManxSPCA warns against using 'inhumane' glue traps

Robins die after getting caught in pest control device

A Manx charity working against cruelty to animals is urging people not to use glue traps.

Glue traps are small boards covered in adhesive, designed to ensnare any small animal that walks across them.

The MSPCA says the devices are inhumane and cause prolonged suffering.

The charity was recently asked to help two robins that became stuck on such a trap - but both birds died due to trauma and stress.

Emma Hartmann is a Animal Care Officer at the charity:

In a post on social media the charity says these pest control devices often unintentionally catch other animals such as birds and even kittens.

It's asking people to use alternative methods when dealing with rodents or contact the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture for help.
