Martial arts paper defends its name

Mag targetted by newspaper

'There's no way we will fold'.

That's the message from Island self defence instructor Scott Caldwell.

He's one of the men behind the online magazine Martial Arts Guardian, which has recently been threatened with legal action from the newspaper, The Guardian.

The organisation recieved a letter from the UK broadsheet's solicitors, opposing the magazine's registration to trademark its name.

Scott says there's no way they'll change their title:

The Guardian issued a short statement in response: "We can confirm that solicitors acting on our behalf contacted the organisation in question to invite them to withdraw a trade mark application as it overlapped an earlier registered trade mark owned by Guardian News and Media Limited. The organisation confirmed they would withdraw their application as they do not use the name and have no further interest in the application. They are welcome to discuss this further with us should they wish."
