ME sufferer raises funds for biomedical research

Juan Corlett adapts 2.6 challenge to suit medical condition

A local man, suffering from ME, has taken it upon himself to raise money for biomedical research into the disease.

Juan Corlett contracted the illness in 2012, with his condition deteriorating drastically in 2018 such that he has only able to leave the house once a day for a short walk for the last 18 months.

However, Juan has recently taken on the 2.6 challenge, redesigning it to suit his limits, to help others suffering from ME.

Juan is walking around his local allotments once a day until he reaches 2.6 miles, which should take 14 days in total after calculating the 340 yard distance around the allotments.

Starting on Sunday 26 April, his initial target was £260, however he is now nearing £3000 with just a few days left to go. All money raised is going to The Ramsey Research Fund - the research arm of the ME Association - to help development a better understanding of the disease and work towards safe and effective forms of treatment.
