MHK to use House of Keys questions to query vet vacancies

Ashford has tabled half of the topics at today's sitting

Issues with vacancies in the veterinary industry will be raised in the House of Keys today.

Douglas North MHK David Ashford - who has tabled seven of the 14 questions for oral answer – will ask the Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister what action she is taking.

Clare Barber will also be quizzed about ‘immigration barriers’ and asked for information about any conversations which have taken place with the UK Government on this subject.

He’s also got questions tabled on rates, the number of delayed or cancelled flights in March and the support available for patients who face travel disruption.

The other seven questions will be asked by Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.

He’s seeking more information about who was interviewed, and when, in relation to a review of relationships and sex education in Island schools.

The southern MHK will also ask the Education Minister Julie Edge for an update on her department’s position on negotiations with unions.

Mr Moorhouse will also quiz the Infrastructure Minister about restrictions, or recommendations, about steam train speeds and the use of the whistle.

He’s revealed on social media the question was sparked after a constituent raised concerns that a train had spooked her horse.

You can find the House of Keys question paper HERE and listen to coverage of the sitting on Manx Radio’s AM 1368 frequency from 10am.
