Appeal issued ahead of TT
There's an appeal for the public to be extra vigilant at the moment, with the TT approaching.
It comes from the fire service, which has had multiple callouts to various locations around the Island over the last couple of days.
Crews from Ramsey dealt with a fire at Jurby industrial estate on Friday, then had to put one out at Andreas airfield yesterday.
Appliances in the south were out tackling an embankment fire in the area of Ballawoods in Ballasalla yesterday as well.
There was then a full turnout of Douglas crews at some flats on Queen's promenade last night, where a faulty light fitting had filled one of the corridors with smoke.
The fire service says at this time of year, small fires spread quickly as the ground and materials are so dry.
It adds that with the TT coming up, these small fires have a huge impact on emergency services' resources, so early detection is vital.
