Nearly one fifth of hospital appointments 'DNA's'

New appointment trial not a cost-saving exercise, says Hooper

Nearly one fifth of all appointments at Noble's Hospital currently result in non-attendances (DNA's).

That's according to the Health and Social Care Minister who says this is a 'significantly higher rate' than those seen in the rest of the British Isles.

It comes as Lawrie Hooper was asked today about a trial for orthopaedics which contacts patients six weeks in advance of their appointment in efforts to bring down DNA's.

Mr Hooper also maintains the approach is about improving the efficiency of the system and is not a cost-saving exercise:
