'No cause to review' planned change to Covid approach

Island to move to 'endemic' status despite spike in cases

The Isle of Man's director of public health says there's 'no cause to review' the date of when the Island changes its approach to Covid-19.

On 31 March we're due to move to dealing with the virus as endemic rather than pandemic - despite a spike in cases.

It means that from 1 April the legal requirement to isolate, if positive for the virus, will be removed.

Dr Henrietta Ewart says the BA.2 variant of Omicron, now widespread on the Island, is 80 per cent more transmissible than the original Omicron strain.

But she says it doesn't cause any greater severity of illness:
