No concerns over RAAC concrete at King William's College

Survey carried out after 2021 safety bulletin received

King Williams College has revealed it has no concerns about the concrete used across its estate.

The private school says a survey has already determined there are no RAAC elements at the site, or at the Buchan School, in Castletown.

Some schools in the United Kingdom have been ordered to shut buildings made with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) until safety work is undertaken.

King Williams College says it received a safety bulletin from the UK Health and Safety Executive in April 2021 in connection with the issue.

Following this a survey of the educational buildings, which could have potentially contained RAAC, was carried out which showed no issues.

The Department of Education, Sport and Culture says it’s not aware of any use of the concrete across its school estate on the Isle of Man.
