No DfE analysis on loss of Belfast flights

Minister says economic impact is likely to be minimal

The Department for Enterprise hasn't analysed the impact the loss of flights to Belfast will have on the Manx economy.

Emerald Airlines won't be operating its Belfast City service, to and from Ronaldsway, between 8 January and 7 March next year.

easyJet has also decided to stop its Belfast International flights between January and April for commercial reasons.

Minister Tim Johnston says while no formal analysis of the economic impact has been carried out the impact is likely to be minimal given the low demand for tickets.

Responding to a Tynwald question, from Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh, Mr Johnston also confirmed his department wasn't made aware of easyJet's decision to remove flights to Belfast International, during the first quarter of the year, ahead of its announcement.
