Motion for extra £10m withdrawn
No more money from the Manx taxpayer is required to complete the new Isle of Man Ferry Terminal in Liverpool.
That's the declaration from the Treasury Minister, who today successfully withdrew a motion for further funds in Tynwald.
Back in July, the Island's parliament was asked to approve an additional £10 million for the capital project - with the money to be transferred from general reserves to ‘top up’ the capital contingency budget.
That debate was adjourned until this month's sitting to allow for further financial details to be finalised, and for the publication of a report from the Public Accounts Committee.
That report, released last week, found a rushed delivery timetable, inadequate planning and initial budgeting that was described as 'hopelessly ambitious'.
