Nurses set to travel around Island to highlight pay rise plight

RCN protest bus hitting streets today

The Royal College of Nursing says nurses cannot keep coming into work on a day-to-day basis and finding wards understaffed.

Today (16 August) members are set to travel around the Island to raise the profile of the current pay dispute.

Nurses have asked for a 15 per cent pay rise but have been offered 10 per cent plus a further consolidated two per cent.

Whilst the bus trip is not part of the ongoing industrial action, the RCN's Senior Regional Officer Mary Ann Parkinson says even if it was, it's not nurses fighting for higher pay that affects patient care:

The plan for the day is:

08:30-10:00 Noble's Hospital

10:45-12:15 Ramsey Market Square

13:00-14:30 Peel Market Place

15:15-16:45 Castletown Square
