Open invitation to the Big Garden Birdwatch

There is a chance to do some really useful 'tweeting' with a difference this weekend!

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' annual Big Garden Birdwatch is being held today (Saturday) and tomorrow, with thousands of people across the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom taking part.

They will all spend an hour watching the birds in their gardens and recording what they see.

The data will be collated by the RSPB to form a snapshot of bird life in the British Isles, and the figures will be compared with previous years, to see which species are doing well and which may be in decline.

Abbi Jinks from RSPB says anyone can take part (listen to audio file below):

Anybody who wants to get involved can visit the website rspb.org.uk/Birdwatch for more information, and to download a bird count form.
