People's favourite Glens revealed

Calls for better maintenance and disabled access

More than a thousand people have taken part in a survey about the future of Manx National Glens.

Government wanted to find out if they should still be responsible for the upkeep of the national spaces, which cover 28,000 acres, or a fifth of the Island's total land mass.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says it's been 'overwhelmed' by the response to its questionnaire, which was carried out between August and September.

Initial findings appear to show Groudle Glen is the most visited in the Island, with the people's favourite being Ballaglass Glen in Maughold.

Nine in ten of us believe Glens are an essential part of the Island, which need to be held on to as a heritage asset.

Many also called for better maintenance, improved disabled access and tighter controls on dogs.
